Racing Into Their Thirties: Citizen Reimagines The Promaster Split Second Timer

2019 marked the 30th anniversary of the Promaster line. To celebrate this milestone, Citizen re-imagined the Promaster after 30 years of this iconic design. Drivers, start your engines!

Citizen’s Promaster line is the go-to professional-grade sports watch collection from Citizen. From Land to Air, or passing over the Sea (read HERE), it’s an ideal collection for adventurous souls. The high levels of functionality, toughness, and reliability ensure the Promaster can handle every situation.

Sport Luxury

For the first time since 2015, Citizen has re-designed the Split Second Timer in three different but distinctively sporty looks. This new design is more modern and in line with the purpose of the timepiece. The new design comes with an elevated wrist presence, making it suitable to wear it outside the cockpit or sports field.

With a stainless steel 46mm case, these Split Second Timers come with either with an integrated leather strap or two-tone metal bracelet. The split-second features a knurled, ruggedly textured bezel and pushers. The dial features an ani-digi display with world time adjustment up to 43 cities. With all these functions, it is set to become your new favorite sports companion.

With three distinctive colors that evoke the livery of famous race car teams, there’s assuredly a watch for every taste. From black and red, green and black, and an excellent combination of orange and navy, the colors are just as sporty as the watch.

Technological innovation

With curves and colors inspired by race cars, it is only natural that the watches are ideal for racing. The lap timer can recall up to 20 laps and provides an average speed calculation coupled with a 99-minute countdown timer. It is useful and accurate when you want to set your personal best and track your lap records. I’m looking at you, aspiring racecar drivers.

The first quarter of the bezel has the numbers with the colors matching to the hands in italics. At first glance, it looks as if the numbers are racing towards the finish line. Just looking at it gives you an adrenaline buzz and makes you ready to set and go!

The new Promaster SST also features Citizen’s signature Eco-Drive technology that allows the watch to be powered by any light source and never needs a new battery. Also, should you wish to take a quick swim after a day at the track, the watch has an impressive 200m water-resistance.

With the holidays coming up, the Promaster SST might be the perfect gift for that racing fan in your life. The  Promaster SST has an MSRP of $725 USD, but Citizen is currently offering the line for $580 USD on their website.
